Job Description: 
Texas Senator Don Huffines is seeking a part-time/full-time intern for his Capitol office in downtown Austin, TX. The internship with Senator Huffines offers students or recent graduates a unique opportunity to acquire new skills and gain first-hand knowledge of the political process in the Texas Senate. Description: Duties include handling constituent relations, such as researching and drafting responses to constituent inquiries, and helping to provide solutions for constituent casework. Interns may attend policy briefings and public events as needed. Administrative duties are expected, which include but are not limited to answering phones, sorting mail, filing documents, and running office errands. Qualifications: • Confidentiality, reliability, courteous behavior, discretion, and the ability to think quickly and make independent decisions • Strong written and oral communication skills • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently • Maintain a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, and utilize strong organizational skills Priority is given to those… • Available for at least 12 hours per week (part time) or 24 hours per week (full time) • Graduated from an accredited university or currently enrolled in a Texas school if at least at a sophomore level in college with a 3.0 GPA or higher • With previous policy experience or work at the Capitol
