Job Description: 
The Aurora Martinez Jones Campaign seeks motivated applicants for Field Organizer (FOs) positions for the 2018 Democratic Primary Election for 459th District Judge, the new civil court seat serving Travis County. This will be among the most competitive races in the region in 2018 providing hands-on experience in the ins and outs of campaigning and a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in our community. About the Position Field Organizers are the backbone of any campaign responsible for direct voter contact via canvassing or phonebanking, assisting in volunteer recruitment and mangement, working events or tabling, and other opportunities as they arise. Position specific training will be provided as will additional instruction on various facets of political campaigns and networking opportunities. Requirements Ideal candidates are self-starters, personable, and eager to learn and grow professionally. Interest in politics, campaigns, and/or justice preferred. While a functional cell phone and reliable transportation are required, a car or similar personal vehicle is recommended. All necessary training will be provided. About the Candidate Aurora Martinez Jones is an Associate Judge in Travis County presiding over the child-welfare dockets including the Family Drug Treatment Court and CPS dockets. The daughter of immigrants, she grew up in La Porte, TX before coming to Austin to attend the University of Texas for both undergrad and law school. After law school she started her own firm focusing on civil litigation and family law. Judge Martinez Jones has been active in the community as past President of the Austin Black Lawyers Association, former Chair of the Court Appointed Family Advocates (CAFA), and has served on the board for the Texas Young Lawyers Association. In addition, she currently is a member of the Children's Justice Act Task Force, a Board Member for the Travis County Women Lawyers Foundation, and Board Member for the Girls Empowerment Network.
