DIVISION: FISCAL AND AGENCY AFFAIRS LEGAL SERVICES GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The legal intern may conduct complex research on state and federal statutes, bills, rules and regulations as needed. The legal intern may review and edit publications, contracts, transactional documents, and other documents for legal content, accuracy and legal compliance. The legal intern may review court orders, powers of attorney, trusts and other legal documents to determine whether applicants have legal authority over certain program accounts. The legal intern may attend internal and external meetings. The legal intern may assist with other special projects or perform other duties as assigned. WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Timely performs legal research on state and federal statutes, bills, rules and regulations, and assists in writing legal memoranda, reports and other documents. Reviews and edits publications, contracts, transactional documents and other legal documents for legal content, accuracy and legal compliance. Reviews court orders, powers of attorney, trusts and other legal documents to determine whether applicants have legal authority over certain program accounts. Attends internal and external meetings. May assist with other special projects and may perform other related work as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: At least 1 year of law school completed. Complete copies of college transcripts must be furnished to the divisional hiring representative at the time of the interview for positions requiring a college degree, and/or specific educational credits. EXPERIENCE: Law students entering 2nd or 3rd year of law school with professional experience.
