Internship

The Texas League of Conservation Voters works to preserve and enhance the quality of life of Texans by making environmental conservation a top priority with Texas elected officials, political candidates and voters. The League holds officials accountable through our Legislative Scorecard; engages with Texas voters and educates them about environmental conservation and legislative issues; and, through our Political Committee, supports and opposes candidates for public office in Texas. Based in Austin with a small staff, the League is operating under a new strategic plan calling for growth and expansion of our programs on a statewide basis. Opportunities for unpaid full or part-time internships are available with the League from September 1 to December 31, 2014, or other dates as mutually agreed. The League currently seeks undergraduate students with a strong interest in the environment and in political science to fill internship positions. The League will work with prospective interns to seek course credit and/or external funding as needed. Working with the Executive Director, fall interns may work on projects including a large project involving citizen participation in environmental permitting; communicating with Texas residents on key conservation issues related to the 2014 election and 2015 legislative session; developing and implementing earned and social media projects aimed at increasing awareness of TLCV; and special events. Additionally, all interns will have additional tasks assigned - including in the areas of nonprofit administration and fundraising - based on the needs of the organization as well as the intern's own academic or professional interests.
