Job Description: 
Job Summary: Assists Chief of Staff with legislative analysis and general constituent and stakeholder communications and meetings; perform routine office and other clerical duties as needed. The Office of State Representative Bobby Guerra is seeking a responsible, motivated, and hardworking Legislative Aide to assist with the following duties. Must be well organized and able to multitask in a high-pressure, face-paced environment. Applicants should be able to interact with public officials, state agencies, and constituents with a high degree of professionalism and neutrality. Applicants with previous session experience, a policy research background, or technical writing experience are preferred. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage first impressions for the Capitol Office. Answer the phone, meet visitors in the reception area. Assist with the preparation of legislative materials. Attend meetings and write briefing memos. Assist with policy analysis. Assist with general constituent communications and digital outreach efforts. Assist senior staff with relevant casework, by serving as a liaison between the office, stakeholders, and state agencies. Assist with special projects, including data assembly and constituent communication. Attend Austin-area meetings/functions Perform routine office, clerical, and other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree, with work experience that includes at least one legislative session or relevant policy and constituent work as a substitute. Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must be a direct and patient communicator with the ability to interact and effectively communicate with the community, including public and elected individuals. Strong computer skills and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
