Job Description: 
The Office of Senator Judith Zaffirini is looking for interns seeking experience within the Texas Legislature. Chosen candidates will be given the opportunity to assist staff with policy development, legislative work, constituent casework, and meeting/event planning. The work schedule can be flexible; however, candidates must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week. Interns will: • Assist with constituent casework • Conduct policy research • Assist in preparing Senator for committee hearings • Attend meetings and events related to Capitol business • Write letters and memoranda • Develop potential legislation • Maintain personal accountability for work done The position requires the following skills and qualifications: • Strong organization skills • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Professional appearance • A positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn Interns may apply for the fall, spring, or summer semesters (or year-long).
