Senator Carlos Uresti (D) is seeking a highly motivated intern for the Spring 2018 semester to assist with operations in his Capitol office in Austin. Ideal candidates are current students with strong organizational and writing skills, a record of community service, and an interest in public policy. Interns will support legislative staff by researching issues and policies, writing policy memos and constituent letters, working on special projects, and performing general office duties, including taking detailed phone messages and managing office correspondence. The position is unpaid and the student is encouraged to seek class credit. The internship will run from early January to May 2018, exact start and end date negotiable. The internship is part time; The intern will be asked to work at least 9 hours a week, and will set a regular schedule in blocks of at least three hour increments within office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
