Job Description: 
Texas Senator Don Huffines is seeking full-time interns for his Capitol office in Austin, Texas for the 2019 Spring semester, specifically for the 2019 Legislative Session. The internship with Senator Huffines offers students a unique opportunity to acquire new skills and gain first-hand knowledge of public policy and the legislative process in the Texas Senate. Description: Duties include but are not limited to conducting research and writing memos and reports on policy issues, responding to constituent inquiries on assigned committee and policy areas, performing administrative functions related to the legislative process and constituent correspondence. General office duties are expected, which include but are not limited to answering phones, sorting mail, filing documents, and running office errands.

Qualifications: Strong writing and research skills, analytical reasoning & critical thinking skills, Experience and/or coursework in public policy or related field is preferable, Self-driven, positive attitude, Strong familiarity with conservative principles and philosophy, including liberty, economic freedom, free enterprise, and limited government. Priority is given to those available for 24 hours per week (full time); Graduated from an accredited university, or currently enrolled as at least second-year in an in-state university with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is a competitive process. Due to the limited amount of space and resources available, there are usually more qualified applicants than positions available.
