Job Description: 
The Office of Senator Judith Zaffirini is looking for interns seeking experience within the Texas Legislature. Interns will have the opportunity to assist staff with policy development, legislative and constituent work, and meeting/event planning. The work schedule can be flexible; however, candidates ideally must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week. Candidates may apply for a semester, summer, or multiple semesters. Preferred Qualifications: • Strong organization skills • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Professional appearance • Positive attitude as well as a willingness to learn and take direction • Personal accountability for work done Responsibilities: • Assisting with constituent casework • Conducting policy research • Assisting in preparing Senator for committee hearings • Attending meetings and events related to Capitol business • Writing letters and memoranda • Developing potential legislation
