Job Description: 
State Representative-Elect John Turner is seeking applicants for a Legislative Intern position at his Capitol office during the 86th Legislative Session (Spring 2019). This internship will offer students the opportunity to advance their interest in public service while providing them with valuable employment experience. Benefits Interns will have many opportunities for professional development and education, including: - Direct participation in the legislative process; - Experience with statewide policymaking; - Networking, exploring future opportunities. and securing employment references; and - Course credit if offered by your school. Responsibilities Interns will be asked to take on the following tasks: - Draft one-pagers and memos on policy issues and legislation; - Draft constituent letters and facilitate constituent correspondence; - Assist with talking points, press releases, and op-eds; - Answering phones and greeting visitors; and - Additional duties assigned as appropriate. Qualifications Strong applicants will have the following skills and qualities: - Currently enrolled in college or university; - Punctuality, an attention to detail, and strong organizational skills; - Strong work ethic and good communication skills; and - A passion for public service and the legislative process.
