Texas Senator Don Huffines is seeking part-time and/or full-time interns for his Capitol office in Austin, Texas. The internship with Senator Huffines offers students a unique opportunity to acquire new skills and gain first-hand knowledge of public policy and the legislative process in the Texas Senate. Description: Duties include but are not limited to conducting research and writing memos and reports on policy issues, responding to constituent inquiries on assigned committee and policy areas, performing administrative functions related to the legislative process and constituent correspondence. General office duties are expected, which include but are not limited to answering phones, sorting mail, filing documents, and running office errands. Qualifications: •Strong writing and research skills •Analytical reasoning & critical thinking skills •Experience and/or coursework in public policy or related field is preferable •Self-driven, positive attitude •Strong familiarity with conservative principles and philosophy, including liberty, economic freedom, free enterprise, and limited government
