State Representative Andrew Murr
Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated, bright, and hardworking individual(s) for an internship in the Capitol Office of State Representative Andrew Murr. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience while assisting with the day-to-day operations of a legislative office during the interim. While daily schedules are flexible, interns are expected to make a time commitment of 15 hours per week Monday through Friday. The internship will begin in mid-January and conclude in mid-May with the possibility of an extension if requested by the intern and offered by the office. The intern(s) will perform a range of tasks, ranging from administrative duties to attending legislative policy briefings and/or interim committee hearings. Other duties include letter writing, constituent responses, and data entry. (Mandatory Qualifications) Successful candidates will: have previous work experience; have proven oral and written communication skills; have an interest in the Texas Legislature; be deadline focused and goal oriented; be able to work effectively with representatives from government agencies, legislative offices, and advocacy organizations; possess intellectual curiosity and an interest in learning complex policy issues; and possess problem-solving skills. While not mandatory, bonus points will be given to candidates from (or who were raised in) one of the 12 counties in Texas House District 53.
