The table classifies interest groups along two dimensions: (a) level of organizational resources which can be high, moderate, or low, and (b) level of political interest, also potentially high, moderate, or low. The resulting classification yields three types of groups: (a) organized and politically interested groups which are moderate to high on both dimensions, (b) organized but politically uninterested groups which are low in political interest but moderate to high in organizational resources, and (c) un- or under-organized groups which are low in organizational resources whatever the level of potential political interest.
