Attorneys' Views on Judicial Selection
Pie charts describing attorneys' views on judicial selection.
long description of charts

"Judicial partisanship" is an oxymoron. That is the view of the vast majority of Houston attorneys. As the chart on the left shows, only 16 percent of these judicial insiders and campaign contributors want to preserve partisan election as the method for selecting Texas judges. Though no particular plan for change wins majority support, as the chart on the right shows, the combined support for either non-partisan election or merit selection – 88 percent overall – is a clear verdict that attorneys view judicial partisanship as a serious judicial defect or even a crime against justice.
