This slide describes the top level statewide party organization in Texas. Temporary party organization at the state level consists of the state convention. It is made up of delegates selected by county or district conventions. It certifies party nominees, writes the party platform, and selects the executive committee and chair, national committee members, national convention delegates, and presidential elector slate. The state executive committee and the state chairperson represent state level permanent party organization. The state executive committee is the state party's chief governing body. It has 62 members, a man and a woman from each state senate district. It stages the party's state convention. The state chairperson, who must be a different gender than the vice-chair, represents the party statewide.
