The party identification question was asked in two parts. First, respondents
were asked if they consider themselves a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or
Other. If they indicated that they are Democrats or Republicans, they were then
asked if they consider themselves to be strong Democrats (Republicans) or not so
strong Democrats (Republicans). If they indicated that they are independents,
they were then asked if they lean toward one party or the other or are pure
independents.
The table does not include those registered voters who indicated they are not
sure about their party identification (or lack thereof). Approximately 6.5% of
respondents answered as such and are therefore not included in this pie chart.
