This table compares total fundraising receipts by candidates for the U.S. House and Senate with those of candidates for the Texas House and Senate in the 2001-2002 midterm election cycle. Candidates for House seats nationally and in Texas collectively raised much more than candidates for the U.S. or Texas Senate. However, individual fundraising in the U.S. and Texas Senate measured by average fundraising by incumbent, challenger, and open seat candidates for Senate seats is significantly larger than average individual fundraising by U.S. and Texas House candidates.
