Job Description: 
Description and Duties: The Government Relations intern will assist in organizing Texas Folklife's political and policy strategies and initiatives, serving as a liaison to local, state, federal and international government officials, as well as other institutions. The position will involve legislative advocacy and communicating with local government officials and staff, including visits to the Austin City Council, Texas Capitol building, and other local government offices. In addition, the Government Relations intern will also assist with events associated with Texas Folklife's political initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Experience: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, economics, qualitative research • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills • Political expertise (campaign, district office) • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills • Strong organization and planning skills • Ability to handle multiple priorities • Good understanding of the political process Requirements: • Must be able to work 10+ hours per week • Must have access to reliable transportation
