CPS Energy’s Federal & State Relations team is seeking a part-time intern to actively assist with our advocacy efforts at the Texas Capitol during the Regular Session of the 86th Legislature (January – May 2019). On a daily basis, there are a number of hearings, floor debates and meetings on legislation that need to be attended by the Federal & State Relations team but often occur at conflicting times. The intern will help the team with coverage and providing timely, relevant information back to the utility of activities of impact or interest to the utility. Specific duties will include: - Attend/monitor state legislative hearings and floor debates - Take notes and draft reports on meetings, hearings and debates of impact/interest to CPS Energy - Research legislative issues - Under business unit guidance, work within the Telicon system to track bills, send out for comment and organize analyses received - Help draft reports and other written communications distributed by Federal & State Relations - Monitor agendas for legislative hearings, and floor debates in order to post pertinent activities on team members’ calendars and alert others within the utility as appropriate.
