Job Description:
Texas State Representative Cassandra Garcia Hernandez is seeking a Communications Intern to work in
her Capitol Office for the 89th Legislative Session, January – May of 2025. The internship may be fulltime or part-time. Salary will be commensurate with experience and ability.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in creating Representative-Elect Garcia Hernandez’ floor report by analyzing bills and
assembling the report;
• Assemble the Representative’s binders for the floor calendar and committee hearings;
• Assist with constituent communications and casework;
• Conduct policy research as needed;
• Manage office phone calls;
• Welcome visitors to the office;
• Handle incoming schedule requests for the office;
• Conduct miscellaneous projects and tasks; and
• Any other work assigned by the Chief of Staff.
Qualifications:
• Motivated by a strong affinity for public policy work;
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; and
• Strong interpersonal communicator, with good etiquette and a positive attitude.
