Job Description
The office of State Senator Nathan Johnson is seeking a bright and motivated individual to work as a Legislative Aide during the spring semester of 2023. The ideal candidate will have an interest in a variety of public policy issues including education, transportation, criminal justice, public health, energy, water, and the environment. The position will involve a mixture of policy and office duties, and the Legislative Aide will be expected to take on a wide range of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• Availability to work 15-20 hours/week through May 2023
• Excellent research, writing and oral communication skills
• High level of organization
• Internet access, use of web conferencing platforms, and the ability to work remotely when necessary
• Ability to work effectively with stakeholders representing a variety of groups from across the state
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based research platforms
Responsibilities:
• Perform research projects in support of possible future legislation
• Review and analyze statutes and legislation
• Conduct policy research
• Participate in and prepare notes for webinars and internet presentations regarding a variety of public policy topics
• Assist with stakeholder meetings and constituent casework
• Perform various administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
