TechNet’s Austin office is seeking a highly motivated intern to assist in the tracking, organization, communication, and advancement of TechNet’s legislative priorities in Texas during the 2019 legislative session. TechNet’s intern will acquire practical experience while gaining first-hand exposure to the legislative process. Key responsibilities for the internship will include: • Conducting research on specific bills, issues, and voting records; • Attending committee hearings and writing reports; • Delivering materials to legislative offices; and • Other duties as assigned. HOURS/COMPENSATION: 15-20 hours per week, $10/hour Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm, flexible QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Current students enrolled in four-year college or university. Students with some previous legislative experience preferred. SKILLS: Excellent verbal, writing, research, and editing skills, experience with word processing and spreadsheets; solid judgment; critical thinking skills; self-starter; attentive to detail; a sense of teamwork; ability to handle multiple tasks. Must be an organized self-starter who can exercise independent judgment; able to work well under pressure; applicants with access to a laptop computer preferred.
