Job Description
Position Summary: State Rep. J.M. Lozano seeks a full-time, session-only (January-June 2025) public affairs aide to assist his office with constituent outreach, social media, communications, stakeholder management, event planning and scheduling. This a front-line position and candidate should be comfortable interacting with diverse audiences and be able to pivot quickly between tasks and priorities. Public policy research and legislative duties will be assigned according to interest and availability. Key Responsibilities: • Constituent Services: o Address constituent inquiries and casework with a focus on policy implications. o Draft and review correspondence to constituents and stakeholders. o Participate in community meetings and events to engage with and gather feedback from constituents. • Public Engagement & Outreach: o Enhance Representative’s social media presence through photography, graphics, online monitoring, and frequent posting. o Organize legislative days for constituents, professional groups and other opportunities for Texans to interact with the legislature. o Write articles for on-line newsletter and manage distribution. o Develop relationships with constituents and key capitol stakeholders. • Administrative Duties: o Assist with scheduling, coordinating meetings, and organizing events. o Handle general office duties, including answering phones and managing office inventory. • Policy Research and Analysis: o Conduct in-depth research on legislative issues, policy proposals, and current events. o Prepare comprehensive briefings, policy memos, and reports for legislative staff. o Track and analyze legislation, including drafting summaries and committee hearing reports
