Description: The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is accepting applications for its Public Policy intern position. The intern will have the opportunity to assist staff with policy development and administrative duties within the Public Policy division. The duties of this position may include monitoring public meetings, researching state and federal policies, coordinating special projects, proofreading and reviewing content, disseminating advocacy information and materials, and assisting with other general office duties. This position is for spring 2018, beginning in February and ending in May. At least 10-15 hours per week is required. The position is at TCDD’s office in Austin, Texas. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ideal candidate is a self-starter with ability to work as part of a team. Candidates should be responsible, detail oriented, and have working knowledge of modern office equipment and computer programs. Prefer interest in disability advocacy and knowledge of government and the policymaking process. Must have strong organization skills, willingness to learn and take direction, and excellent writing skills. Applicants must be seeking a degree in Government, Sociology, Special Education or a related area and must have at least 60 hours of academic credit. Salary: The intern will receive a stipend up to $2,000 for the spring.
