Job Description: 
The Office of State Representative is currently seeking applicants to fill at least one (1) intern position during the 2022 Spring/Summer semester. Interns will have the opportunity to assist constituents, play a significant role in social media and other communications, learn about the legislative process, and research state issues. Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Interns will be asked to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. All intern positions are unpaid, and the position will require working and being trained both in the office and remotely. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Interns perform a variety of tasks, including those in the following categories: communications, constituent services, legislative research, and administrative support. The role of an intern and full-time staff is to serve the public while learning about the inner workings of a state representative's office. Communications: Assisting with the development and execution of office social media plan and schedule Keeping track of news events that relate to the district or office priorities Drafting communications to press, including press releases and statements, as needed Constituent Services: Providing casework intake services Working with staff to resolve constituent casework issues Serving as a liaison for constituents with various state agencies to facilitate casework resolution Maintaining correspondence management records Administrative Support: Answering office phones Checking and email inboxes Ensuring that database is up-to-date Interns may be asked to attend weekly video staff meetings and any other meetings directed by State Representative or senior staff. An ideal candidate will have social media/communications experience, possess excellent attention to detail, and work independently to meet deadlines. The minimum 15 intern hours per week must be scheduled during regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
