Respondents were asked: Q18. [Ask if Q13=1] If the 2014 Republican primary election for lieutenant governor were held today, which of the following possible candidates would you vote for, or haven't you thought about it enough to have an opinion?

If they initially answered that they didn't know, they were then asked a follow-up question: "If you had to make a choice, who would you choose?" Responses to the follow-up questions were folded into the results found above.

Measurement of Party ID for this figure is based on two questions. First, respondents were asked whether they consider themselves to be a Democrats, Republicans, independents, other, or not sure. Those who responded that they are independents or "other" were then asked if they lean toward either the Democrats or Republicans. If they indicated that they lean toward one party or the other, they are considered Leaning Democrats or Republicans. If they initially answered that they considered themselves Democrats or Republicans, they were then asked if they consider themselves strong, or not so strong Democrats of Republicans. Democrats and pure independents (those who remain independent after a follow up question) are omitted from this figure as they make up an insignificant portion of the Republican primary electorate.
