This table identifies, briefly describes and provides links to further information about all special sessions of the Texas legislature from 1929 through 2003. In the first column is the year of the regular session preceding each special session. In the second column is the Legislature designated by number, e.g., the 78th Legislature met in 2003. The third column itemizes special sessions. Only meetings of the Legislature that were followed by special sessions are included in the table. The fourth column reports the number of topics assigned by the governor in each special session and provides a link to a summary of the topics provided by the Legislative Reference Library. Columns five and six provide links to online copies of gubernatorial proclamations and addresses by the governor. Proclamations are written messages from the governor to the legislature. Addresses are transcripts of gubernatorial speeches to the legislature as well as position papers and background documents provided by the governor.
