The Texas Politics Project

The fourteen state appellate Courts of Appeals in Texas are each headquartered in a sizable urban area. Each serves surrounding counties. Most counties are served by a single Appeals court though some jurisdictions overlap, as for instance the first and fourteenth Courts of Appeals which serve the same thirteen counties. As set by law, each court is served by three to thirteen judges for a total of eighty Appeals court judges statewide.
