This map identifies the locations of the fourteen state appellate courts in Texas. Each court is headquartered in a sizable urban area but serves surrounding counties. Most counties are served by a single appellate court though some jurisdictions overlap, as for instance the thirteen counties served by the first and fourteenth courts of appeals. As set by law, each court is served by anywhere from three to thirteen judges for a total of eighty appellate court judges statewide.
