4. The remaining 106 members of the House not holding chairmanships in the 78th Legislature took in $13,023,711 during this period, an average of $122,865. This total includes the Speaker, Tom Craddick (R-Midland), who appoints committee chairs. Craddick received $2,453,185. Excluding Craddick, the average for the remaining 105 House members drops to $100,672. Of the almost $18 million received in contributions by all members of the Legislature during this period more than 27% went to committee chairs.
