  • Initiating a Criminal Proceeding
    1. a law officer witnesses a crime
    2. a citizen reports a crime to an officer
    3. a grand jury, a law officer, or another official investigates whether a crime has occurred


  • Arrest or Search warrants may not be required when
    1. An officer witnesses a crime
    2. Evidence is easily moved or destroyed
    3. An officer is in hot pursuit
    4. A subject consents to a search
    5. Circumstances are reasonably suspicious
