With Dan Patrick Expected to Announce Re-Election Bid, Some Polling Numbers

Dan Patrick is expected to announce his intent to run for re-election today. He's had a busy four years since emerging from a strong GOP Primary field that included two statewide elected officials and another state senator in addition to Patrick. After quickly consolidating power with rule changes in 2015, he hasn't shied away from taking controversial, but no doubt conservative stands on issues like vouchers and transgender bathroom access, and was first to jump from Cruz to Trump among high profile Texas Republicans. As Patrick seeks another two chances at the Texas Senate gavel, here's a look at where he stands among the Texas electorate. To acknowledge the subtext of Patrick's expected announcement, Greg Abbott's numbers have been placed below Patrick's for comparison.
