Second Reading Podcast: Budget Day is Coming + other developments in the Texas Legislature
April 04, 2023 | By: Texas Politics Project

In the latest Second Reading Podcast, Jim Henson and Josh Blank discuss Texas attitudes on spending in advance of the budget bill hitting the floor of the House this week, and consider broader dynamics at work in a couple of recent telling events as the session unfolds: the repeated second reading of SB 18 Monday, and the advancement of gamling bills out of committee in the House.

As promised in the podcast, here is the list of prefiled amendments for the House budget bill.

Listeners can find graphics of the responses to questions on spending in the February 2023 UT/Texas Politics Project Poll that are discussed in the podast in these search results from the Texas Politics Project data archive.
