Support Student Research at the Texas Politics Project
May 06, 2025 | By: James Henson

For the first time, the Texas Politics Project is joining other UT entities and organizations in the 40 Hours for the Forty Acres campaign. You can support our efforts to fund more undergraduate research assistants, who learn about working with polling data and other primary research materials related to Texas politics and government as part of close collaboration with Texas Politics Project researchers.

Here is an example of the work product of one of hour undergraduate reserarcher, Henry Smith. Henry dug through legislative records to find the data that went into producing this graphic about the time it took during different sessions, under different Speakers, to get committee appointments made. This is just one example of the kind of work your contribution can help support.

Undergraduate research is vital to development of practical skills that our students can take with them as they go out into the world and begin building the lives and careers. Your contributions will be targeted to pay students who want to work with the Texas Politics Project to develop research skills, as well as to participate in the various public outreach and educational program the Texas Politics Project undertakes. We would appreciate you considering making a contribution, which will go entirely toward hiring undergraduates to work with us on current and future projects.

Please make your contribution now. The "40for40" campaign runs from 6 a.m Central Time on May 7 through 10 p.m. on Thrusday May 8.  Click here to go to a very easy-to-use giving page set up specifically to support the work of the Texas Politics Project. No contribution is too small – it all helps.

Thanks for your interest and consideration.
