The Office of State Representative Gina Hinojosa seeks a professional and motivated Communications Intern for the 88th Legislative Session, set to begin January 2023. As a Communications Intern for Rep. Hinojosa, you will primarily create content and assist senior staff with the management of Rep. Hinojosa’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. This position will report directly to the District Director, but the candidate will work closely with all members of the office. The position will take place primarily in-person during through the end of Session (approximately January to May) and requires a time commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week (part time). RESPONSIBILITIES ● Photographing. filming, and editing content for social media ● Researching social media trends and developing ideas for content creation ● Drafting copy for social media posts ● Creating social media that represent the personality of Rep. Hinojosa and District 49 ● Other duties as assigned by the member and staff REQUIRED SKILLS ● Passion for issues and policies supported by Rep. Hinojosa, such as the environment, voting rights, public education, healthcare, public safety, and workforce development ● Ability to meet tight deadlines, sometimes with very little notice ● Self-starter, with the ability to work well in a team seating ● Strong written and oral communication skills ● Ability to communicate with professionalism, clarity, and timeliness with the offices of other elected officials, constituents, and others who engage with the office ● Strong planning and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail
