Accounting Internship
Accounting Internship – Office of State Senator Brent Hagenbuch
The Office of State Senator Brent Hagenbuch is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to support our team during the interim (Spring 2025). This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain firsthand experience in state-level fiscal policy and the financial processes behind Texas’s legislative operations. Interns will work closely with the Senator’s staff to assist in monitoring budget allocations, tracking expenditures, and staying informed on ongoing financial projects and programs led by the state. The role will involve reviewing financial reports, researching policy impacts, and helping ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures. This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in public finance who is looking to apply their accounting knowledge in a government setting.
Interns must be organized, dependable, and able to manage their time effectively across a range of tasks. Because priorities can shift quickly during a legislative session, adaptability and flexibility are essential qualities. The ideal candidate will be curious about how public funds are allocated and managed, and eager to learn more about how financial decision-making shapes state policy and impacts communities across Texas. While this role is accounting-focused, interns will also gain exposure to the broader legislative process and have opportunities to observe policymaking in action. If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of government finance and contribute to the work of a public office, we encourage you to apply and join our team.
