About the Patman Center
The Patman Center for Civic and Political Engagement develops the next generation of civic leaders. The Center’s mission is to strengthen our democracy by cultivating skilled leaders who exemplify an ethos of civility, service, and bipartisanship. The Center achieves this mission by providing students with extensive leadership training in a bipartisan environment, a working knowledge of our democratic government and opportunities for experiential learning, internships, and political mentoring.
Expected start date is August 3, 2026. We will begin reviewing applications on June 1.
Purpose
The Patman Center for Civic and Political Engagement at the LBJ School of Public Affairs seeks a full-time Administrative Program Coordinator to support center-related activities, courses, and events.
Responsibilities
1) Program & Event Coordination and Execution
Coordinate and execute a high volume of programming, including speaker series, symposiums, courses, and Maymester in D.C. activities. Manage the full lifecycle of events, including planning, promotion, logistics, and on-site execution. Ensure events are professionally organized, well-attended, and aligned with the Center’s mission.
2) Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Experience
Serve as an introductory point of contact for students, speakers, and external partners. Coordinate communications, gather required materials, and support site visits and security walk-through processes as needed. Foster a welcoming and engaging environment that encourages continued participation in Patman Center programming.
3) Event Logistics, Operations, and Financial Coordination
Manage logistical and operational components of events, including travel arrangements, venue coordination, catering, photography, and parking. Process payments, submit financial documentation, and support honorarium coordination. Ensure all operational elements are executed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
4) Cross-Departmental Coordination & Communications
Collaborate with internal departments, including communications, facilities, and administrative teams, to coordinate event logistics, reservations, and promotional efforts. Ensure alignment across teams and streamline communication processes to support efficient program execution.
5) Communications Strategy & Outreach
Develop and implement multi-channel communications strategies to promote events, programs, and opportunities. Create content for social media, newsletters, and targeted outreach campaigns. Expand audience reach by engaging with campus partners, student organizations, and external networks.
6) Website Management & Digital Content
Maintain and update the Patman Center website, including event postings, program information, and news articles. Ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the Center’s brand and messaging.
7) Program Development & Student Engagement
Support the development of new programs and initiatives, including student engagement opportunities and experiential learning models. Assist in planning and coordinating networking events, scholar programming, and community-building activities.
8) All other duties as assigned.
Provide guidance and oversight to student workers. Contribute to ongoing improvements in operations, communications, and programming. Perform other duties as needed to support the mission and growth of the Patman Center.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience coordinating or administering a program or events. Previous success in a customer service environment and demonstrated success communicating effectively with different constituencies through a variety of media. Adaptability and skills at problem solving with speed and creativity while employing good judgment and composure. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Collaborative approach with excellent organizational skills and customer service. Moderate understanding of social media platforms.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than the required experience. Experience working in higher education. Experience working in political settings and/or with elected officials. Experience with data management. Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems. Comfort with using Canva and Mailchimp or related platforms to generate digital graphics for The Center. Knowledge of trends in effective social media marketing.
Salary Range
$50,000 - $53,000
