About the Campaign: Robin Lerner is a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under the Obama administration and a recent president of the Texas International Education Consortium. She is a lifelong public servant running for her first political office: the Texas House of Representatives, district 49.
The Assistant to the Campaign Manager will work directly with the Campaign Manager and candidate, helping to define the campaign’s daily strategy, scheduling, and policy positions. This role requires a visionary risk-taker who is high-performing and exceedingly adept at multi-tasking on a very tight schedule.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Candidate Advance & Surrogate: Accompany the candidate to events when the Campaign Manager is unavailable; serve as a trusted representative of the campaign; help manage logistics and smooth execution of public appearances.
2. Political & Community Event Scouting: Proactively research and identify high-impact and community-engagement speaking opportunities for the candidate.
3. Policy Researcher: While there is a policy researcher already on the campaign, there may be times when the Assistant will need to conduct rapid research on local issues and legislation to prepare candidate briefing materials and talking points for public events and media opportunities.
4. Operations & Logistics: Maintain the master campaign calendar, manage event invitations, and coordinate internal communication to keep the campaign organized and responsive.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Current Enrollment (or within 1 year of graduation): Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited university (e.g., UT, Texas State, or local area institution).
- Commitment & Availability:

Ability to commit to a minimum of 15–20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Must have regular in-person availability in Central and South Austin (within district 49) for event attendance.

Must have availability during some evenings and weekends to accompany the candidate to public events.

Transportation: Transportation (personal vehicle or access to ride-share) and a valid driver's license to travel to and from various events across the district.

Discretion & Professionalism: Proven ability to handle confidential political information with absolute discretion. Must maintain a professional demeanor when representing the candidate and campaign in public settings.
