Job Description

Job Duties 
• Support office operations on Council meeting days, including materials prep, logistics, and runner duties 
between the office and Council chambers 
• Watch Council meetings and boards and commissions meetings and take notes for staff 
• Help draft social media posts and captions for the Mayor's platforms 
• Assist with content calendars and post scheduling 
• Review office constituent voicemails, emails, and letters and route each one appropriately 
• Conduct policy research, at the direction of staff 
• Collect, sort, scan, and route office mail 
• General office support as assigned 


Who We're Looking For 
• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student 
• Strong writing and proofreading skills 
• Comfortable with social media platforms and writing in a consistent voice for a public official 
• Excellent customer service instincts with constituents, Council offices, and City of Austin staff 
• Reliable and able to hold a consistent Tuesday and Thursday schedule 
• Interest in local government, public policy, or public service 
• Prior political, government, or communications experience is helpful but not required.
