Summary: The Rhetta Andrews Bowers for HD 113 campaign is currently seeking motivated and responsible high school and college interns to assist campaign staff in re-electing Rep. Bowers this November 3rd. It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable political experience while getting a chance to learn firsthand the different methods of how to engage and organize one’s community. Location: Remote Duration: August 1st to November 6th (Fall Internship) Compensation: Unpaid (Possible College Credit or Credit for Community Service) Job Description: The campaign interns will be working closely with campaign staff to assist and be responsible for helping to implement campaign strategy. Hit weekly voter contact metric goals. Recruit and train volunteers. Build out and develop voter engagement events. Support fundraising team in donor research and fundraising events. Support communications team in managing social media platforms. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: High School or College Students Driven Individual with Interest in Politics Flexible Working Hours Strong Writing and Communication Skills Computer Skills (Google Sheets, Google Docs and Microsoft) Access to Phone and Laptop About Rep. Rhetta Andrews Bowers: Representative Rhetta Bowers was elected to serve House District 113 in the Texas House of Representatives on November 8, 2018. She made history elected as the first African American to represent this district. Representative Bowers is an alumna of Spelman College and Texas Southern University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. She was previously appointed to the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, where she served eight years. Rep. Bowers is a Co-founder and four-time Co-chair of the Dallas Women’s March. Though she is a proud native Houstonian, Representative Bowers has resided in Rowlett with her husband MSG (ret.) John P. Bowers, Jr. and their 2 children for nearly 20 years and proudly calls House District 113 home.
