Job Description
IDCL seeks a Communications Intern. The position involves social media management, blogging, and promotions. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in communications, writing, narrative and digital humanities as well as religious and cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. The intern will work with IDCL’s Director and gain a deeper understanding of topics connected to our mission as well as an opportunity to develop communication, writing, narrative and research skills. The position involves an average of 10 hours per week. IDCL’s office space is located on the north side of the UT campus at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, 100 E. 27th St. (IDCL has no formal affiliation with APTS) Responsibilities include growing and engaging our social media following, monitoring news media reports, keeping the IDCL website current, and writing regular blog posts. The intern may also assist in developing podcasts, research and other IDCL projects, include oral history and storytelling projects. Qualified applicants are strong writers and copy editors with basic research skills and knowledge of social media. Some knowledge of Wordpress is also helpful.
