The Capitol Office of Senator César J. Blanco is currently seeking passionate, hardworking student applicants for an unpaid internship opportunity for the Spring Semester. This internship will allow the student to explore their interest in public service through hands-on experience in a governmental office. Qualified candidates should expect to work 15-20 hours per week in an office work setting. This internship will provide students the opportunity to work with and learn the communications process within a legislative office during the legislative session.  

Qualifications

• ·       Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student;
• ·       Express an interest in serving the community;
• ·       Work well with others as a team in a close office environment;
• ·       Possess strong writing skills and a sharp eye for design, content creation and copy editing;
• ·       Have excellent communication skills, bilingual strongly preferred;
• ·       Familiar with standard Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media programs;
• ·       Be able to maintain adherence to confidentiality and sensitive data requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• ·       Assist in developing and executing overall strategic communications outreach;
• ·       Assist in developing and editing external communications such as social media, press statements, email updates, and more;
• ·       Assist in responding to press inquiries and preparing remarks for the Senator;
• ·       Assist in developing social media graphics to include with postings;
• ·       Assist in tracking and analyzing communications data;
• ·       Provide general assistance to the Communications Department;
• ·       Other duties as assigned.
