Communications Intern
The Office of State Senator Brent Hagenbuch is currently seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our team during the interim (Spring 2025). This internship offers a strong opportunity to gain hands-on experience in political communications, public messaging, and constituent outreach at the state level. Interns will work closely with the Senator’s communications staff to assist in drafting press releases, preparing speeches, producing graphics, and developing content for newsletters and digital platforms. The role will involve monitoring media activity, supporting messaging strategy, and helping ensure that public-facing communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with the Senator’s priorities. This position is ideal for someone interested in political communication who wants to sharpen their writing, design, and strategic messaging skills in a government setting.
Interns must be organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple communication tasks at once. Because priorities can shift quickly during the legislative cycle, adaptability and the ability to turn work around on short timelines are essential. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer with an eye for design, curiosity about public policy, and a willingness to collaborate closely with the communications team. While this role is communications-focused, interns will also gain exposure to the broader legislative process and have opportunities to observe how public messaging shapes policy discussions across Texas. If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of government communications and contribute to the work of a public office, we encourage you to apply and join our team.
