SUMMARY: Representative Carl Sherman is seeking a Constituent Services Aide to serve in the District 109 Office located in Lancaster, TX. Under the supervision of the District Director, the Constituent Services Aide will act a liaison between the Representative and constituents, district organizations, local governments, and state agencies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Manage constituent cases by responding to requests and resolving issues through investigation, intervention, arbitration, and facilitation Communicate with constituents and others through telephone calls, written correspondence, in-person meetings and speaking engagements; Write & send out: Certificates/birthday/sympathy cards/thank you notes Attend District functions as needed Resolution requests (District-Framing & delivery when needed) Document constituent services activity in CMS, and submit written and verbal reports to update the Representative and staff; Monitor and update Representative and Capitol Staff on local events/issues Provide day-to-day administrative and planning support to develop the Representative’s outreach programs to targeted constituent groups; Maintain updated contact lists: elected officials, community leaders, constituents, etc. Speech writing to include in person or video recordings Up to date knowledge of member priorities, branding consistency, etc. Research capabilities as needed for task EXPERIENCE AND PREFERRED SKILLS: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in public service, social services, government or resolving issues with government agencies. Understanding of how government and legislation works, local and state government operations, policy and protocol. Demonstrated ability to interact with government officials, local advocates, community leaders, and the general public. Requires knowledge of effective intake and referral practices and knowledge of community and government resources to assist constituents. Excellent skills in use of technology, office procedures, verbal and written communication, decision-making, time management and conflict resolution.
