Job Description
The Office of Governor Greg Abbott is seeking a creative and motivated Digital Media Intern to join our communications team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in government and politics, working closely with seasoned professionals to shape and deliver digital content that engages and informs the public. The ideal candidate is passionate about social media, government, politics, and the digital media landscape, with a keen interest in public service. You will assist in producing content for various digital platforms, including all of the Governor’s state social media accounts, and contributing to the messaging strategies that drive the Governor's goals and agenda. Key Responsibilities: ● Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging digital content, including graphics, videos, and written posts, for social media channels (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). ● Social Media Management: Help monitor and update social media platforms. ● Research: Conduct research on political issues and digital media trends to inform content creation and strategy. ● Event Coverage: Assist in live coverage of press conferences, news hits, public events, and other government activities, providing real-time updates through social media and other digital platforms. ● Administrative Support: Provide support with various administrative tasks, such as organizing digital assets and maintaining content calendars. Qualifications: ● Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field. ● Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends. ● Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail. ● Not required, but ideal: Basic graphic design and video editing skills (experience with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar is a plus). ● Interest in government, politics, and public service. ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ● Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
