District Office Intern
This position requires a candidate dedicated to advancing the Senator’s priorities and engaging with the constituents of Texas State Senate District 9. The District Office intern will support the District Office team with constituent correspondence and programming. Reliable transportation is encouraged as some events will be out of the office. Prior legislative/policy experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
•Log incoming correspondence (mail, e-mail, phone and in-person inquiries, etc.)
•Communicate with state agencies on behalf of constituents
•Participate in planning for in-district and in-office events and activities
•Assist with drafting responses to constituent correspondence
•Perform general administrative tasks (answering the phones, copying and stapling, data entry, note-taking, mailing, shipping, etc.)
•Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
•Strong interest in public services, government, or policy
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•Professional demeanor and commitment to constituent confidentiality
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
