Job Description
The Capitol Office of State Senator Molly Cook is seeking hardworking and dedicated applicants interested in working in our Capitol office as a Legislative & Communications Intern. Qualified candidates should expect to work at least 15-20 hours per week. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide general office support • Draft and manage constituent correspondence • Research legislation in various policy areas • Attend relevant briefings, meetings, and committee hearings • Monitor political and legislative movement • Draft social media and newsletter content with support from the Chief of Staff • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: • Service-oriented individual with a highly professional demeanor • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to work well in a team-based environment • Familiarity with local, state and federal agencies and departments • Strong organizational skills • Careful attention to detail • Strong computer skills and knowledge and familiarity of Microsoft Office Suite and all social media platforms
