Fall Park Stewards Program Intern

The Travis County Parks Foundation (TCPF) is a growing 501c3 organization with a mission to create a powerful community resource that increases awareness, engagement and community support for Travis County parks. Our vision is a network of extraordinary county parks that are well-known, easily experienced and loved. 

We are seeking a Fall Park Stewards Program Intern with strong organizational and communication skills to assist with the development and implementation of the Foundation’s Park Stewards Program. The intern will work closely with the Park Stewardship Program Director. The position is available to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates. The TCPF Park Stewards Internship focuses on 3 main goals: 

1. Assist with program coordination for Park Stewards program and Community Stewardship Days

2. Community engagement and outreach to serve a diverse population through our programming

3. Leading and co-facilitating public workshops  

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development and execution of the organization’s Park Stewards program

• Aid in preparation of program materials for events

• Aid in education at Park Stewards events, when needed

• Aid in ordering supplies 

• Aid in the publicising and communications of events, including tabling, digital outreach, and distributing flyers in partnership with communications team

• Communicate frequently with TCPF’s Executive Director and Park Stewards Program Director

• Coordinate with the other TCPF interns

• Represent TCPF at public events on the weekend and evenings 

Qualifications:

• Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience with outdoor education, community-based programming and/or a desire to learn

• Experience with the concepts of conservation and  land stewardship

• Experience leading groups, with an interest in peer-based learning

• Experience with different outdoor activities and programming 

• Experience working with diverse audiences, comfortable with leading adults 

• Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects

• Enthusiasm for the TCPF’s mission 

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have access to transportation 

• Interns will often load and unload program supplies, set up tents, and tables. Must be comfortable with the outdoor environment and possible changing weather conditions

Start Date: September through Dec 18, 2026 with an option to extend internship. Start and end date flexible.

Hours: 10 hours a week, including weekly virtual meetings and weekend and evening events.

Location: Tuesdays at TCPF office. Weekly meetings in person. 

Stipend: $1,500.
