Job Description
The Margaret Chen Kercher campaign seeks motivated applicants for Field Organizer (FOs) positions for the 2020 Primary Election Run-Off for County Court at Law #4, a criminal misdemeanor court serving all of Travis County. This will be among the most competitive run-off election in the Central Texas region, providing hands-on experience in the ins and outs of campaigning and a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in our community. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis with a desired start immediately. The positions last through the end of May 2020. About the Position Field Organizers are the backbone of any campaign responsible for direct voter contact via canvassing or phonebanking, assisting in volunteer recruitment and management, and staffing events, among other activities. Position specific training will be provided as will additional instruction on various facets of political campaigns and networking opportunities. Pay starts at $15 per hour. Flexible hours offered. Requirements Ideal candidates are self-starters, personable, and eager to learn and grow professionally. Interest in politics, campaigns, and/or justice preferred. While a functional cell phone and reliable transportation are required, a car or similar personal vehicle is recommended. All necessary training will be provided. About the Candidate Margaret Chen Kercher is a local criminal defense attorney, progressive community leader, and proud daughter of immigrants running to be the next Judge of County Court at Law #4. For the last decade, Margaret has defended individuals accused of felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses. Margaret has the necessary experience to bring new, practical ideas to end the backlog of family violence cases in Travis County Court at Law #4 in order to ensure fair and equitable justice under the law.
