Representative Donna Howard is seeking a qualified candidate to help with general office administration and policy analysis.. This is a full-time position with the potential to continue past the end of the session. Applications are open to graduate students and/or college graduates. Salary is commensurate with experience. Previous experience working in Texas Government, local government, or similar experience is required. The preferred candidate will be a strong writer and communicator, have a basic familiarity with the legislative process in Texas and the prominent issues and political dynamics of both the state and Austin community. They must be comfortable with taking sensitive constituent phone calls and have an excellent ability to think quickly on their feet. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with developing digital communication plans and using communications software such as Canva, Adobe, Hootsuite, etc. This is an excellent position for someone aiming for a career in media relations, political campaigns, policy, advocacy, digital marketing with a focus on public policy and public administration. This internship should provide opportunities to engage with constituents and policymakers in a meaningful way, to develop a professional network, and a portfolio of work within the State government. Former interns have gone on to work with Legislative offices, state agencies, the Chamber of Commerce, non-profit advocacy groups, and consulting firms.
